Suðurlandsvegur and the tunnel through Hvalfjörður will be closed from tonight until tomorrow morning. Vestfjarðarleið will be closed for 24 hours.
Suðurlandsvegur will be closed from Rauðavatn to Nesjavellir from 8pm tonight until 8am tomorrow morning. A detour is via Hafravatnsvegur. Information signs will be put up and the detours will be well marked, according to the Icelandic Road Administration’s website. Guards will be at the closure posts to guide drivers.
Hvalfjarðar Tunnel will be closed from 8pm tonight until 7am tomorrow morning due to paving work at the roundabout at Akrafjallsvegur. A detour is available via Hvalfjörður. The tunnel will also be closed from 8pm tomorrow night until 7am on Wednesday morning. Information signs will be put up, detours marked and guards will be at the closure posts.
Finally, Vestfjarðarvegur No. 60 north of Haukadalsá will be closed for 24 hours from 5 pm today, due to roadworks.
