The New National Hospital in Iceland (NLSH) is requesting information (RFI) from qualified parties interested in the upcoming tender for the interior finishing of the Main Treatment Center, from the basement (K2) up to and including the fourth floor. It is anticipated that construction will begin in 2025 and it is the buyer’s wish that the work be completed before the end of 2028.
The finishing on the lower floors K2 – 4H is up to 55 thousand square meters, which depends on the nature of the division of the work parts, cf. tender documents. The lower floors will include, among other things, an emergency room, operating and isolation rooms, imaging, drug treatment, staff facilities and extensive support and technical systems.
High-quality finishing and equipment are required in the building, and therefore the experience and ability of the parties to carry out the planned construction are taken into account. Experience in hospital construction of a comparable scale is also required, as the completion and complexity of hospital infrastructure and technical systems rely on specialized knowledge.
The project is being carried out in the form of Building Information Modeling (BIM). The project is being carried out in accordance with the government’s policy on civil engineering and sustainability. The aim is for the building to be certified as an environmentally friendly structure according to the international certification system BREEAM.
