Now in the new year, contractors on The New National Hospital treatment center are once again becoming fully staffed, as many employees have returned after a nice Christmas break.
“Work on the treatment center is progressing well and exterior wall units have been installed on the last part of the building.
Now the final finishing touches on the exterior wall cladding will begin, which involves closing expansion joints, roof edges, installing doors and other smaller work components. Preparations for interior work on the inpatient wards, on the 5th and 6th floors, have begun and construction is expected to begin there in February.
Work is underway to install rainwater pipes from the roofs and, in short, all rainwater will be led out of the building through them. Construction in the new year will increasingly focus on interior finishing,” says Árni Kristjánsson, NLSH’s site engineer.
