New housing construction in Reykjavík is concentrated mainly in Höfði and on the Orkureitur site by Suðurlandsbraut.
In total, 2,657 dwellings are under construction in the city, up from 2,112 in March. That is an increase of 545 since the last count, according to new figures from HMS.
176 added in Hafnarfjörður
Outside Reykjavík, the largest number of new starts is in Hafnarfjörður, where 176 dwellings have been added since the last count, mostly in Hamranes and Ásland. Garðabær also has 155 new dwellings under construction, primarily in Hnoðraholt and Álftanes, and Mosfellsbær has 64 new dwellings, mainly in the Helgafell neighbourhood.
111 in Ölfus
In the regions, the most new projects are in the Municipality of Ölfus, where work has begun on 111 dwellings, and in Reykjanesbær, where new projects cover 98 dwellings.
