Ístak and Per Aarsleff A/S have jointly signed a contract with Betri samgöngur to build the Fossvogur Bridge.
Of the two valid bids, the partners’ offer was the most advantageous. The contract value is ISK 7.661 billion. The agreement was signed electronically in Fossvogur, where land-reclamation works are currently underway. Signing for Betri samgöngur was Davíð Þorláksson, managing director, and for Ístak Karl Andreassen, CEO.
Fossvogur Bridge is a key element of Borgarlína’s first phase and will improve travel for Strætó buses, pedestrians, and cyclists. The bridge will also be an important link in the capital area’s path network and shorten travel times between major employment and service areas.
Up to 10,000 people are expected to cross the bridge daily once Borgarlína is fully operational. With better access, stronger connections, and lighter traffic, the Fossvogur Bridge will positively impact mobility across the capital area and become a prominent landmark for the future.
