Sjálfstæðisflokkurinn (Independence Party) and Alva Capital have signed an agreement for that company to purchase Valhöll, which has housed the party since 1975.
Alva Capital is buying Valhöll, the soon-to-be former headquarters of Sjálfstæðisflokkurinn (Independence Party) on Háaleitisbraut in Reykjavík, from the party.
The company and the party have signed a purchase agreement for the property.
Sjálfstæðisflokkurinn has been based in Valhöll since 1975, when the building was constructed by party members specifically to house its activities. That chapter will end in mid-summer when Alva Capital takes possession of the building.
Representatives of Alva Capital say they intend to develop new activity in the building and change its role so that it becomes a living part of its surrounding area.
The central committee and housing committee of Sjálfstæðisflokkurinn decided to sell the building because its operation had become expensive and it was clear that extensive and costly renovations would be required.
