Vincent TanTan wants to build three hotels in Skálafell

Berjaya Hotels Iceland hf. has submitted an application to the City of Reykjavík for a major hotel development at the foot of Skálafell. The hotel chain plans to build three luxury hotels there.

The total square footage is estimated at 70,000 m2. The project manager of the planning commission of Reykjavik City has received this application for processing. The Reykjavik City is asked to prepare a zoning plan of the area in question in the slopes of Skálafell. The planning description, prepared by T.ark architects, states that the description covers Kýrhólsflói and Stóra-Buðuflói by Skálafell.

Berjaya Hotels is owned by a Malaysian hotel group and operates seven hotels in Reykjavík and six in the countryside. The founder of Berjaya Corporation is billionaire Vincent Tan, who also owns the English football club Cardiff City.
