Building 70 apartments for students

Boðvar Jonsson, CEO of the Student Building Association (BN), says that it is planned to begin earthworks on the company’s new student apartment buildings in Arnarbakki in Breiðholt this spring. Demolition of older structures has already begun.

The company is building 70 student apartments in two apartment buildings in Arnarbakki, while a kindergarten will also be built on the ground floor of one of the buildings.

Alverk ehf. is building the buildings, which are designed by Grima architects and Tendra architecture The engineering firm Dynja is responsible for construction management and supervision of the construction.

Many years of preparation

Boðvar says that the preparation of the project has lasted almost five years. On average, the company has 200-300 applications for student apartments, and the project will help to work on that waiting list. Both individuals and families are on it.

The cost of the development is over four billion Icelandic kronur and the contract is for a general total contract.
