The construction on a 133-apartment building in Borgarhöfði started yesterday. It is estimated that the neighborhood, which will be built on Ártúnshöfði and at Elliðaárvogur, will house up to 20,000 residents.
The development is being carried out by the real estate development company Klasi, and this is the company’s first project involving Borgarhöfði, but in addition, Klasi plans to build about 700 additional apartments in addition to retail and office space in the coming years.
Ingvi Jónasson, CEO of Klasi, says the development has been in development for a long time, with investments in the area starting in 2005.
When asked, Ingvi says that the first apartments are expected to be ready in about 18 months. All of them will then be ready in just over two years.
